Omnisend Agency for Shopify: Email, SMS and Push Automation

Omnisend suits Shopify brands that want email, SMS and web push working together without a large in-house team to run it. The platform is quick to start, but the defaults only go so far: generic popups, pre-built workflows left untouched, and campaigns sent to the whole list. As an Omnisend agency for Shopify stores, we set the account up properly, build workflows around your products and buying cycle, and report on the orders it drives.

This is the Omnisend part of our email marketing service for Shopify brands. The hub covers overall strategy and list growth. This page covers the platform work itself.

01

What Omnisend management means

Omnisend management is the setup, build and ongoing running of an Omnisend account connected to a Shopify store. It spans the store connection, forms and popups, automation workflows, email and SMS campaigns, web push, segmentation, product recommendations and reporting. The result should be more repeat orders from subscribers and customers you already have, with less manual effort from your team.

02

When Omnisend is the better fit than Klaviyo

Both platforms connect well to Shopify. The right one depends on how you work, not which is more popular. We make this call honestly in the audit, and we will recommend staying where you are if switching does not pay back.

Your situationWhy Omnisend often suits it
Small team, one person owns marketingPre-built workflows and a visual builder are faster to launch and easier to hand over
You want email, SMS and push in one sequenceAll three channels can sit as steps in the same workflow
Straightforward segmentation needsShopping behaviour, engagement and consent segments cover most use cases
Cost is a deciding factor at your list sizeWe compare current plan costs for your list on both platforms during the audit
Heavy custom data, complex branching, predictive modellingThis is where Klaviyo tends to be the stronger choice

If Klaviyo looks like the better match, our Klaviyo on Shopify service covers that platform in depth.

03

Store connection and account setup

Clean data from Shopify is the base for everything Omnisend does. During setup we:

  • Connect the Omnisend app to Shopify and confirm customers, orders and products sync correctly
  • Check web tracking so product views and cart activity reach Omnisend and trigger workflows
  • Import existing subscribers with their email and SMS consent status, plus suppressions
  • Authenticate a branded sending domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC
  • Set up unique discount code generation in Shopify for workflows that use incentives
  • Decide which order and shipping notifications Omnisend sends and which stay as Shopify notifications, so customers never get duplicates
04

Forms, popups and sign-up tools

Omnisend has a wide set of sign-up tools. The risk is using all of them at once. We pick the few that fit your traffic and design them to match your theme:

  • Popups with timing, exit-intent and page targeting, plus a teaser tab for dismissed popups
  • Gamified forms such as a spin-to-win wheel, used only where the offer suits the brand
  • Multi-step forms that collect email, then SMS consent, then an optional interest question
  • Embedded sign-up boxes and dedicated sign-up landing pages for launches or social traffic
  • Rules that hide forms from existing subscribers and keep mobile pages usable
05

Automation workflows built for your products

Omnisend's pre-built workflows are a starting point, not a finished product. We rewrite and restructure them around your catalogue, margins and buying cycle, using conditional splits, exit conditions, A/B tests and channel steps inside each workflow.

The overall map of which automations you need, and how they avoid clashing, is planned by our Shopify email automation team. Inside Omnisend, the workflows that usually matter most are:

  • Welcome for new subscribers, split by whether they have bought
  • Browse and cart abandonment, with timing and incentive rules refined on our Shopify cart recovery email service
  • Order and shipping confirmation, branded and used to set up the next purchase
  • Post-purchase and cross-sell, where review requests and product education are planned through our post-purchase email programme
  • Customer reactivation for buyers past their normal repurchase window
  • Birthday or anniversary messages where you collect that data
06

SMS and web push in Omnisend

The advantage of Omnisend is putting channels in one place. The discipline is knowing when each one earns its keep.

ChannelBest used forWatch out for
EmailMost workflow steps, campaigns, education, product storiesFrequency across flows and campaigns
SMSCart recovery follow-ups, launches, time-limited offers for opted-in customersCost per message, quiet hours, consent rules per market
Web pushBrowse and cart reminders for visitors who allowed browser notifications, flash announcementsLow opt-in on some devices, keep messages short and infrequent

A common setup sends the first cart reminder by email, a later one by SMS only if the email was not clicked, and a short push reminder to shoppers who subscribed to browser notifications. Channel logic is tested on your store, not copied from a template.

07

Segmentation that goes beyond the whole list

We build segments in Omnisend from shopping behaviour, campaign engagement, profile data and channel consent:

  • Subscribers who have never ordered, by recent site activity
  • First-time customers still inside their second-order window
  • Repeat buyers and high spenders
  • Buyers of specific collections or products
  • Engaged versus unengaged subscribers, so campaigns reach people who still open and click
  • SMS-consented and push-subscribed audiences for channel-specific sends

Campaigns then go to the segments they suit, which protects deliverability and keeps unsubscribes down.

08

Product recommendations in emails

Omnisend's product recommender and product listing blocks pull items from your Shopify catalogue into campaigns and workflows. We set them up so recommendations are useful rather than random: best sellers within the category a customer bought, complementary products for cross-sell, new arrivals for engaged browsers, and filters that keep out-of-stock or low-margin items off the page.

09

Migrating to or from Omnisend

We handle moves in both directions.

Moving to Omnisend from Shopify Email, Mailchimp or another tool usually happens when a store wants SMS and push alongside email with more automation than it has now. We carry over consent and suppression data, rebuild workflows in Omnisend's builder, authenticate the sending domain, and warm up by sending to engaged segments first.

Moving away from Omnisend makes sense when a store has outgrown its segmentation or needs deeper custom data. We plan the switch so both platforms never run the same workflow at the same time, and so no subscriber loses consent history on the way.

10

How an Omnisend engagement runs

  1. Audit and baseline. We review your Omnisend account and Shopify connection: sync health, tracking, forms, workflows, segments, campaign frequency, sending domain and channel consent. You get the audit document and baseline figures, including workflow revenue, sign-up rate and list health, in writing.
  2. Strategy and scope. We rank fixes and builds by expected impact, decide which channels to use and where, and agree a fixed scope and timeline before work begins.
  3. Build and fix. Workflows are built with status left inactive and forms unpublished. You approve every email, SMS and push message through previews and test sends before anything reaches customers.
  4. Launch and track. Approved work switches on in stages. Ongoing clients get a portal with progress tracking, monthly reporting against Shopify orders, and a monthly call to agree the next tests.
11

What the work aims to move

We do not promise numbers. The service targets metrics you can see in Omnisend and Shopify:

  • Revenue and orders from workflows, checked against Shopify order data
  • Sign-up conversion across forms and devices
  • Repeat purchase rate and time to second order
  • SMS and push opt-in rates and their contribution to orders
  • Unsubscribe, bounce and spam complaint rates
12

Who this service is for

  • Shopify stores already on Omnisend that are running mostly default workflows
  • Brands choosing between Omnisend and Klaviyo who want an unbiased recommendation
  • Teams that want SMS and push added to email without hiring a specialist in-house
  • Stores planning a migration into or out of Omnisend

We work only on Shopify and Shopify Plus, so setup decisions are made around Shopify checkout, customer accounts and order data.

Pricing for Omnisend management

Omnisend work is a monthly email marketing retainer scoped to list size and the number of workflows and campaigns. Migrations and one-off account builds can be quoted as a fixed project. Your Omnisend plan is billed by Omnisend and is separate from our fee. Our pricing page explains how each scope is built. When you are ready, request a free Omnisend account review.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Yes, for many stores. It connects directly to Shopify, puts email, SMS and web push in one workflow builder, and is quick for a small team to run. Stores with complex data or heavy segmentation may be better served by Klaviyo.

Yes. We connect the store, check data sync and tracking, authenticate the sending domain, import subscribers with consent, and build forms, workflows and segments before launch.

Only if Omnisend is limiting what you need to do, such as deeper custom segmentation or predictive fields. We compare both during the audit and recommend staying if the switch would not pay back its cost and effort.

Yes. We set up SMS consent collection and web push opt-in, add those channels as steps inside workflows, and use them in campaigns where they suit the message.

A typical setup or rebuild takes a few weeks, depending on how many workflows are in scope, whether you are migrating, and approval speed for content.

No, if the migration is planned. We move profiles with their consent and suppression status, so opted-out contacts stay opted out and active subscribers keep receiving messages.
