Shopify Content Marketing Agency for Stores That Want Content to Sell

Most Shopify stores publish content because someone said they should. A few blog posts go up, product pages carry the supplier's text, and collection pages show a grid of products with no words at all. We are a Shopify content marketing agency that treats content as a sales channel: every page we plan or write has a job, a target query or audience, a place in your store, and a number we watch after it goes live.

This service is for Shopify and Shopify Plus merchants who want one team to plan, write, publish and measure content across search, email, social and the product pages themselves. You get an editorial plan tied to your collections and margins, the content produced and staged in your store for review, and a monthly view of which pieces are contributing to revenue.

01

What Shopify content marketing covers

Shopify content marketing is the planned production and distribution of written and visual content that helps shoppers find, compare and buy from a Shopify store. It includes collection and product copy, buying guides, blog articles and the material that feeds email and social, all measured against traffic, engagement and revenue rather than volume published.

In practice, that means content lives in several places inside your store. Collection descriptions sit in the collection editor or in metafields rendered by your theme. Guides can be Shopify pages, blog articles or custom JSON templates built with sections. Product specs can live in metafields and metaobjects so they display consistently. Our job is to decide what each piece should be, where it belongs, and how it connects to the rest.

02

Why content matters more on Shopify than most stores realise

Shopify gives you a clean platform, but it does not write anything for you. Out of the box, a new store has empty collection pages, a default blog called "News", and product templates that show whatever text the supplier provided. That leaves three gaps:

  • Search engines have little to rank. A collection page with a full grid of products and one line of text gives Google almost no signal about what the page is for or why it deserves to rank over a marketplace.
  • Shoppers have little to decide with. Buyers comparing materials, sizes or use cases leave to find answers elsewhere, often on a competitor's guide.
  • Your other channels run dry. Email and social teams need a steady supply of useful material. Without it, every send becomes a discount.

A content programme closes those gaps together. A buying guide can rank for a comparison query, become a three-part email series, and give your ads team a landing page for colder traffic. That reuse is where most of the return comes from.

03

The services inside our content programme

We run content as one engagement with five connected services. Most stores are best served by starting with strategy and one production stream, then adding the others as the plan matures. Each service has its own page with the full detail.

Content strategy and editorial planning

Strategy decides what to write before anyone writes it. We research the questions your buyers ask, map topic clusters to your collections, audit what you already have, and compare your coverage with competitors. The output is an editorial calendar with formats and channels for each piece. See how we approach Shopify content strategy and planning.

SEO content for collections and guides

This is the content built to rank for commercial queries: collection page copy, buying guides, comparison pages and category hubs. Each piece starts from a brief with a target query, search intent and internal links to the right products. Read more about our SEO content writing for Shopify collections and guides.

Product descriptions and product data

Product pages carry more commercial weight than any article. We write descriptions that explain benefits, materials, fit and care, structure specs into metafields, and keep titles clean enough to work in Google Shopping feeds. Large catalogues are handled in batches with a shared tone of voice. Our product description service explains how we handle catalogues of any size.

Blog writing

A Shopify blog works when each article answers a real question and points readers to the products that solve it. We pick topics by intent, write guides, how-tos and gift guides, add author signals, and link every article to relevant collections. Find out how our Shopify blog writing programme is run.

Content optimization and refreshes

Content you already have is often the fastest win. We find pages losing clicks in Search Console, refresh or expand them, merge pages that compete for the same query, and prune thin posts with proper redirects. The content refresh and optimization service covers that work in depth.

04

One piece of content, several channels

Content marketing on Shopify pays off when each asset is planned for more than one use. Before we brief a piece, we decide where else it will appear and who needs it. The table below shows how common formats typically travel.

How content supports email and social

Your email list needs something to say between promotions. We plan content so that each month has pieces your email team can adapt: a care guide becomes a post-purchase message, a comparison guide becomes a browse-abandonment follow-up, a new collection story becomes a launch campaign. If your email programme needs its own strategy and build, our Shopify email marketing service handles flows, segments and campaigns. For social, we supply cut-down versions of each piece with the key points, images and product links, so your team or agency is not starting from nothing.

How content supports search

Content is the part of SEO that search engines read. It works alongside the technical, on-page and authority work handled in our Shopify SEO services. When both run together, content briefs follow the keyword map, and new pages are added to the site architecture with the right internal links, instead of being published as orphans.

05

Problems we fix in Shopify content programmes

Most established stores already have some content. The issue is usually that it was produced without a plan. These are the common patterns and how we deal with them.

The blog gets traffic but nobody buys

  • Cause: Topics were picked for search volume, not for buying intent, and articles do not link to products or collections.
  • Fix: Re-map articles to collections, add product blocks and contextual links, and shift new topics toward problem and comparison queries.
  • What we do: Audit every article, tag it by intent and funnel stage, then rewrite or relink the top candidates.
  • Metric it moves: Clicks from articles to product pages, and revenue from sessions that started on the blog.

Collection pages rank on page two or not at all

  • Cause: Thin or missing copy, no answer to the questions shoppers ask about that category, and weak internal links pointing in.
  • Fix: Write collection copy that matches search intent, add a short FAQ, and link to the collection from related guides and articles.
  • What we do: Brief and write the copy, then stage it in a duplicated theme so you see exactly how it renders above and below the product grid.
  • Metric it moves: Impressions and clicks for collection queries in Search Console.

Product descriptions copied from the supplier

  • Cause: The catalogue was imported with manufacturer text that also appears on every other site stocking the same products.
  • Fix: Rewrite descriptions in your voice with benefits, fit and care details, and move specs into structured metafields.
  • What we do: Prioritise products by revenue and traffic, then work through the catalogue in batches.
  • Metric it moves: Product page conversion rate, returns related to fit or expectations, and Shopping feed quality.

Content keeps getting published but results flatten

  • Cause: New content competes with older pages for the same query, and nobody maintains what already exists.
  • Fix: Consolidate overlapping pages, refresh decaying ones, and set a review schedule.
  • What we do: Build a content inventory from Search Console and GA4 data and decide keep, refresh, merge or remove for each URL.
  • Metric it moves: Clicks per published page and the share of pages that earn any organic traffic.
06

How a content engagement runs

Every engagement follows the same four stages as our wider client process, adapted for content work.

1. Content audit and baseline

We start with a free audit of your existing content. That means an inventory of every collection, product template, page and blog post, a review of Search Console queries and landing pages, a check of which content GA4 links to revenue, and a look at how competitors cover the same topics. You receive the audit document and the baseline numbers in writing before any plan is agreed.

2. Editorial plan and scope

From the audit we build a plan ranked by likely impact: which collections need copy first, which guides fill the biggest gaps, which existing posts to refresh. The plan sets formats, channels, word ranges and a realistic production schedule. Scope is fixed and agreed before writing starts, so you know what will be delivered each month.

3. Writing, staging and review

Each piece is written from a brief, edited against your tone of voice, and loaded into a duplicated theme or unpublished state in Shopify Admin. You review every page on a preview link, including how it renders on mobile, and nothing goes live on your storefront without your sign-off.

4. Publishing, distribution and tracking

Approved content is published, added to internal links and navigation where it belongs, and handed to your email and social teams with adapted versions. Ongoing clients get a private client portal with progress tracking, a monthly report and a monthly call to choose the next set of topics.

07

Measuring content-assisted revenue

Content rarely gets the last click. A shopper might read a sizing guide on Monday and buy from an email on Friday. If you judge content only on last-click sales, most of it will look worthless. We set up measurement so you can see the full contribution:

  • Landing page revenue in GA4: revenue from sessions that entered on each content URL, grouped by content type.
  • Assisted paths: conversion paths in GA4 where a content page appeared before the purchase.
  • Search Console performance: impressions, clicks and queries for each piece, tracked from the week it went live.
  • Product clicks from content: event tracking on product links inside articles and guides.
  • Email reuse: click and revenue data from campaigns built on content pieces, taken from Klaviyo, Omnisend or Shopify Email.

These metrics feed the monthly report. They show which topics and formats to do more of, and which to stop. We do not promise traffic or revenue figures in advance, because they depend on your category, competition and starting point.

08

Tools and Shopify features we work with

  • Shopify Admin: blog posts, pages, collection and product editors, URL redirects, and unpublished states for review.
  • Online Store 2.0 themes: JSON templates, sections and blocks for guides and landing content, so layouts can be reused without code changes.
  • Metafields and metaobjects: structured specs, FAQs and reusable content blocks that render consistently across products and collections.
  • Search Console and GA4: query research, content decay detection and revenue attribution.
  • Email platforms: Klaviyo, Omnisend and Shopify Email, for turning content into campaigns and flow messages.
  • Structured data: Article, Product and FAQPage markup where it fits the page and your theme supports it, checked in Search Console.
09

Who this service suits

A content programme is the right fit when:

  • your store has collections and products worth ranking but little written content supporting them
  • you publish content but cannot say which pieces make money
  • your email and social teams keep asking for material
  • your catalogue is growing faster than anyone can write for it
  • you run Shopify Plus with several markets or expansion stores and need consistent content across them

It is not the first priority if your store has serious crawl or indexation problems, or if the theme is broken on mobile. In those cases the audit will say so, and we will recommend fixing the foundations first.

Content for fashion catalogues vs smaller specialist stores

Content needs differ sharply by catalogue. A fashion store with thousands of variants needs scalable product copy, size and fit content, and collection pages that update as ranges change. A furniture or home store with a few hundred products usually gets more from deep buying guides, material and care content, and comparison pages, because each purchase is larger and more researched. We plan the mix around how your buyers actually decide.

10

Pricing and how to start

Content marketing is priced per project or as a monthly retainer, scoped after the free audit. The scope depends on how many pieces you need each month, the formats involved, how much research each one requires, and whether we also handle publishing and distribution. There is no public rate card, because a store with a small, focused range and one with thousands of SKUs need very different plans. The pricing page explains how our engagements are structured.

A one-off project suits a defined job, such as rewriting a catalogue or building a set of collection pages. A retainer suits an ongoing editorial programme with monthly planning, production and reporting.

11

Why work with us on content

  • Shopify only. We work only on Shopify and Shopify Plus, so content is planned around how Shopify actually stores and renders it: collections, metafields, sections, blogs.
  • Content and SEO in one team. Briefs come from the same keyword and architecture work that drives your search programme.
  • You see it before it goes live. Every piece is staged for review on a preview link.
  • Fixed scope, written baseline. You know what you are getting each month and what the numbers were before we started.
  • Measured on revenue contribution. Reports show which content earns, not just how much was published.
FAQs

Frequently asked questions

It plans, writes, publishes and measures the content that helps your store sell. That covers collection and product copy, buying guides, blog articles and material for email and social, all tied to search demand and tracked against revenue.

Cost depends on scope, so we quote after a free audit rather than from a rate card. The main drivers are the number of pieces per month, the research depth, the formats, and whether we also handle publishing, distribution and reporting.

Expect the first signs in Search Console within a few weeks of publishing, with meaningful traffic and revenue changes usually taking several months. Refreshing existing content and adding copy to collection pages tend to move faster than new blog articles, which is why the plan often starts there.

Yes. Before writing starts we document your tone of voice, terminology, words to avoid and claims you can and cannot make. Every piece is edited against that guide, and you approve the first batch before we scale up.

Yes, with staff access to Shopify Admin. We load content into unpublished posts, pages or a duplicated theme so you can review it on a preview link, and only publish once you have signed off.

We may use AI tools for research support and first-pass data work, but every piece is planned, written and edited by people who check facts, product details and search intent. Content that reads as generic does not rank well or convert, so it does not leave our hands.

Yes, and the planning matters more at that scale. Plus stores often run several markets or expansion stores, large catalogues and multiple teams, so we add governance: shared briefs, a style guide, localisation notes and a single content inventory.

They overlap but are not the same. SEO also covers technical health, site structure and authority, while content marketing also covers email, social and sales enablement. We run them together so content briefs follow the keyword map and search data guides the editorial plan.
