Shopify SEO Agency for Saudi Arabia: Arabic-First Search Growth

For most Saudi shoppers, the search starts in Arabic. That single fact changes how a Shopify store should be built, written and measured for the Kingdom. We act as a remote Shopify SEO agency Saudi Arabia store owners can hire to make the Arabic storefront the lead version: Arabic keyword research, a right-to-left theme that renders cleanly on mobile, SAR product pages with the payment and delivery details buyers look for, and a plan to win Google.com.sa results that marketplaces and large regional retailers currently hold. This page belongs to our set of market-by-market Shopify SEO guides.

01

Why Arabic-first changes the SEO plan

Many stores in the region were built in English and had Arabic added later through a translation app. That order works against you in Saudi Arabia. When Arabic is the language most of your buyers search in, it should get the first keyword research, the first copy budget and the most care in the theme.

Arabic-first vs English-first set-up

DecisionEnglish-first store with Arabic addedArabic-first store with English as the second language
Keyword researchEnglish list translated into ArabicArabic research done first, English added where demand exists
Default languageEnglish at the root, Arabic in a subfolderArabic as the primary language, English in a subfolder
Product copyTranslated descriptions, often literalWritten in Arabic for how Saudi buyers describe the product
Theme QABuilt and tested left-to-right, then mirroredTested right-to-left from the start, including app blocks
ReportingArabic traffic is a small line in one reportArabic and English tracked as separate audiences

Neither set-up is wrong in every case. A brand with most of its sales in English-speaking Gulf markets may keep English as the default. For a store where the Kingdom is the main market, Arabic-first is usually the stronger starting point.

Saudi vocabulary, not generic Arabic

Much of the Arabic content online was written for other Arabic-speaking markets, and product vocabulary differs. Saudi shoppers often use local words for clothing, food, home goods and electronics that a pan-Arab translation will miss. Spelling varies too, so one product term can have several common forms, and people sometimes search in Arabic words typed in Latin letters. We build keyword clusters that group these variants, so one collection page can rank for all of them instead of competing with itself.

Product pages that answer Saudi buying questions

Buyers want the SAR price, whether VAT is included, and which ways they can pay. mada cards are the everyday debit option for many shoppers, pay-later providers such as Tabby and Tamara are widely recognised, and cash on delivery remains an expectation in many categories. Showing these options clearly near the price, alongside delivery time for their region, keeps organic visitors on the page. Price display and VAT rules are for your own adviser to confirm.

Delivery across the Kingdom

Delivery promises differ between the major cities and smaller towns. A clear delivery page, and delivery estimates on product pages held in metafields, answer that question better than a set of thin city landing pages. We do not recommend building near-duplicate pages for every city; they rarely rank and can dilute the pages that should.

Peaks that shape the content calendar

Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha move with the Hijri calendar, so their Gregorian dates shift every year. Saudi National Day and White Friday add further peaks with a strong gifting and discount focus. Seasonal collections need permanent URLs and fresh copy each year, published early enough for Google to crawl them before demand rises.

Consent and data

Saudi Arabia has a personal data protection law that affects how you collect email and SMS sign-ups and how cookies are handled on your store. We configure forms and consent messaging as part of the agreed scope, and your own adviser should confirm what the law requires of your business.

What we deliver for a Saudi Shopify store

This is the local layer on top of our core Shopify SEO service. The work is grouped into four areas.

Technical foundations for an Arabic storefront

  • Language and market structure in Shopify Markets, with hreflang for ar-SA and en-SA and a sensible x-default.
  • Self-referencing canonical tags on each language version, and checks that collection-aware product URLs resolve to the /products/ canonical.
  • Product structured data that outputs SAR prices and Arabic product names correctly.
  • A decision on Arabic-script or transliterated URL handles, with redirects if handles change.
  • Script review for payment, pay-later and delivery-date apps that slow mobile pages and hurt Core Web Vitals.

Our Shopify technical SEO work explains how these fixes are tested before release.

Arabic on-page optimisation

Title tags, meta descriptions, H1s, image alt text and internal links are written in Arabic from the Arabic keyword map, then in English where the English version has its own demand. Theme sections and blocks are checked so headings stay in the right order when the layout flips. For the detail of this work, see on-page SEO for Shopify stores.

Content written for Saudi searchers

Scope includes keyword research and copy in Arabic, written or reviewed by native speakers. Typical pages include buying guides for Ramadan and Eid, National Day gift collections, size and care guides, and delivery and returns pages written in plain Arabic. We produce these through our Shopify SEO content service, with every page mapped to one keyword cluster so pages do not compete.

Visibility during the peaks

Organic pages take time to rank, and the biggest Saudi sales windows are short. Many brands run paid search and Shopping campaigns during Ramadan, National Day and White Friday while SEO builds the pages that keep working afterwards. Our Shopify ads management service can run on the same seasonal plan, and the converting search terms from those campaigns feed back into Arabic keyword research.

Working with us from outside the Kingdom

We deliver remotely. We have no office or staff in Saudi Arabia, and all the work is done through your Shopify Admin, theme code, Search Console and GA4 access.

  1. Audit and baseline. We crawl the Arabic and English storefronts, review Search Console by language and query script, test right-to-left rendering and mobile speed on your main templates, and map where competitors win Arabic results on Google.com.sa. The written audit and baseline numbers are yours to keep. Read what a Shopify SEO audit includes; timing depends on store size and usually falls between one and two weeks.
  2. Strategy and scope. We rank fixes by their likely impact, decide whether the store should move to an Arabic-first structure, and time content work ahead of the next seasonal peak. Scope is fixed and agreed before work begins.
  3. Build and fix. Changes are built on a duplicate theme or staging environment. You check the Arabic pages on a preview link on your own phone, and nothing touches the live store until you approve it.
  4. Launch and track. Approved changes are published. For ongoing work you get a private client portal, a monthly report with Arabic and English results shown separately, and a monthly call to agree the next priorities.

Pricing for SEO is a monthly retainer scoped to your catalogue size and where the store starts from. Adding a full Arabic version increases the pages in scope, which is reflected in the quote. See the pricing page for how each service is scoped, or ask for a free audit of your Saudi store to get a quote based on real findings.

Who this is a good fit for

  • Saudi brands on Shopify whose Arabic storefront underperforms the English one.
  • International brands launching in the Kingdom that want the Arabic store planned properly from the start.
  • Shopify Plus merchants deciding between one store with Shopify Markets and a dedicated Saudi expansion store; our SEO for Shopify Plus stores covers both routes.
  • Gulf brands already selling in the Emirates, where English plays a bigger role; compare the approach on our UAE Shopify SEO page.
  • Brands selling in several language markets at once, such as Italian fashion or food labels exporting to the Gulf. Our guide to Shopify SEO in Italy shows the same native-language approach applied to a European market.
FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Arabic keyword research and Arabic copy are included in the scope when the store needs them, and every Arabic page is written or reviewed by native speakers before it goes live.

If most of your customers are in Saudi Arabia, Arabic is usually the better default. English can sit in a subfolder for residents and visitors who prefer it. The audit looks at your current traffic and sales before we recommend a change.

It depends on how different the Saudi catalogue, pricing and operations are. One store with Shopify Markets keeps authority on one domain and is simpler to maintain. A separate expansion store suits brands with a distinct range or team for the Kingdom.

No, payment options are not a ranking factor. They affect conversion from the organic traffic you earn, so we make sure they are visible on product and cart pages without slowing them down.

Technical fixes are often visible in Search Console within weeks of recrawling. New Arabic content usually takes several months to build rankings, depending on competition. Nobody can honestly guarantee positions or dates.

SEO runs as a monthly retainer, quoted after the free audit and based on catalogue size, starting condition and the languages in scope. There is no fixed rate card, because two stores of the same size can need very different work.
