Shopify Store Development.
Planned Around What You Sell.
Shopify store development is more than installing a theme and adding products. A store that sells needs navigation built around your catalogue, product pages that answer buyers' questions, shipping and tax settings that match how you operate, and a checkout tested before the first real order. We plan the store with you, build it with Shopify's own tools, test it end to end, and hand over a store you can run and edit yourself.
Three kinds of Shopify build
The work changes depending on where you are today. Each one starts with the same store plan.
A new store
You have products and a brand, but no store yet, or only a holding page.
We plan the store from scratch, set up the theme, add your catalogue and configure every setting before launch.
A rebuild or redesign
You're already on Shopify, but the theme, navigation or product pages no longer fit the business.
We rebuild on a copy of your live theme, keep your products, customers and order history, and switch over once you approve.
A move to Shopify
You sell on WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, Magento or BigCommerce and want to move.
We move products, customers and order history where the old platform allows it, and set up redirects so existing links still work.
Five parts of every build
Each part ends in something you can see in your Shopify admin, not a document you file away.
Store plan
Decided with you before any design starts.
- A map of every page and the template it uses
- Navigation built from your catalogue
- Apps chosen, with a reason for each
- Markets, currencies and languages if you sell abroad
Design and theme
Your brand on a theme built for Shopify's editor.
- Theme chosen or customised to your brand
- Sections you can edit without code
- Mobile layouts checked on real phones
- Custom Liquid where the theme stops short
Products and content
The catalogue set up the way shoppers browse it.
- Products, variants and collections set up
- Metafields for specs, size guides and care info
- Shipping, returns, about and contact pages
- SEO titles and descriptions on key pages
Store settings
The settings that decide whether orders go through cleanly.
- Payment providers and methods
- Shipping profiles and rates by zone
- Tax settings reviewed with you
- Order and shipping emails in your branding
Launch and handover
Tested before real customers see it.
- Test orders on every payment method
- Redirects if you're moving from another platform
- Analytics and tracking installed
- A handover session and a written guide
Theme as is, customised theme, or custom build
All three run on Shopify's theme editor, so you can still edit content yourself. The difference is how far the design goes and what it costs to build.
| Theme set up as is | Customised premium theme | Custom theme build | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you get | A Shopify theme with your logo, colours and content | A premium theme reshaped with custom sections and Liquid | A theme written for your store |
| Design control | Limited to the theme's settings | Most layouts you want, within the theme's structure | Anything the design calls for |
| Time to launch | Fastest | A few extra days on a theme build | Longest, scheduled after design sign-off |
| Upfront cost | Lowest | Moderate | Highest |
| Theme updates | Apply cleanly | Need checking against custom code | Maintained as your own code |
| Best for | Small catalogues testing an idea | Most brands with an established look | Brands with features no theme offers |
We recommend one of these after discovery, based on your catalogue, brand and budget.
Plan, design, build, launch
A build on an existing theme usually takes 7 to 14 days from kickoff. Custom design, large catalogues and migrations take longer, and you get a date after discovery.
Discovery and store plan

Your own pre-launch check runs against your real store before anyone can buy from it.
Every page planned before it's built.
After discovery you get a store map: every page, the template it uses, the job it does, where it's linked from, and who supplies the content.
Illustrative example. Yours is built from your products and how your customers shop.
How pricing works, and what we need to start
You pay us once for the build. Running costs go straight to Shopify and your app providers.
Your cost has two parts
Fixed build price
Paid to us, quoted after discovery. It covers the plan, design, setup, testing and handover.
Store running costs
Your Shopify plan, a theme licence if you choose a premium theme, and any paid apps. These are billed to you directly, never through us.
What shapes the quote: number of page templates, how much custom design you want, how many products we set up, and any integrations or migration.
What we need from you to start
- ✓A Shopify account, or we build on a development store and transfer it to you
- ✓Your logo, brand colours and fonts, if you have them
- ✓Product data: a spreadsheet or an export from your current platform
- ✓Product photos
- ✓How you ship, what you charge for it, and your returns policy
- ✓Access to your domain, so we can connect it at launch
Questions people ask before a build
A build on an existing theme usually takes 7 to 14 days from kickoff. Custom design, large catalogues and migrations take longer. You get a launch date after the discovery call.
It's a fixed price, quoted after discovery. The main factors are the number of page templates, how much custom design you want, how many products we set up, and any integrations. Your Shopify plan, theme licence and apps are paid separately, directly to Shopify and the app developers.
Yes. The store sits in your Shopify account and any custom code we write is yours. If we build on a development store, ownership transfers to you before launch.
Most stores do well with a premium theme customised to the brand. A fully custom theme makes sense when your design or features go beyond what themes offer. We recommend one or the other during discovery and explain why.
Yes. We move products, customers and order history where the old platform allows it, and set up redirects so old links keep working. Migration is scoped in the quote.
Yes. We build with sections you edit in Shopify's theme editor. You also get a handover session and a written guide covering the changes store owners make most often.
You get the handover session and guide, and the support period agreed in your quote. Ongoing work such as SEO, speed or Google Ads is available separately if you want it.
